Inaugural Ceremony of Pediatric Neurology Unit established at Sassoon Hospital Pune, in the hands of PDG Rtn. Vinay Kulkarni and in the Presence of Dean Dr A.S. Chandanwale, Sasson Hospital Sassoon General Hospital is a large tertiary care referral center in Pune, with 1296 beds. It is a run by the Government of Maharashtra. The hospital serves, almost free of cost, the needs of patients from urban and rural Pune. Pediatric department of Sassoon Hospital attends nearly 1500 to 2000 admissions per year for neurological disease treatment. Such patients require specialized investigations / tests to diagnose the disease at early stages, The project involves installation and commissioning of equipment EEG NCV + BERA + VEP machine & Video EEG machine for diagnosis of neurological diseases / disorders such as Developmental Delay, Cerebral Palsy, Epilepsy, Neuro-degenerative Disorders, Vision and Hearing problems, Neuro-muscular Diseases like Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, and Behavioural Disorders like Autism/ADHD Update on May 15, 2019: In the last five months, 742 children have been treated using the facilities. Out of these 496 were below 5 years of age. The treatment given using these facilities has already helped save life of 153 children.
